1. Who we are

The Engineering Club is a not-for-profit Unincorporated Society, owned by its members and governed by a constitution dated 11 October 2013.

Our registered address is c/o ngenuity Ltd, 28 Milton Park, London N6 5QA.

This Privacy Policy relates to information which is obtained by The Engineering Club and for which The Engineering Club is the Data Controller.

2. Our Purpose

The Engineering Club celebrates Engineering culture for engineers and their friends.

Our mission is to enrich the engineering community through events that bring together engineers and those interested in engineering. Central to this mission is a network of organisations and individuals who make up this community. It is essential therefore to be transparent about the data we collect about you and how it is used and shared.

3. Why we hold and process personal data

We keep data so that we can carry out the purpose of the organisation.

We hold and process personal data for a number of reasons:

To keep a record of our Members, and key personnel within these organisations for social, educational and administrative purposes

    To promote membership and invite people to support the activities of the Engineering Club.

    To distribute our Newsletter and information about free events that we run.

    To send out marketing information about courses and other paid-for activities.

    To fulfil contractual obligations entered into with members and other supporters.

    To support members and others to form networks, run events and projects, and collaborate.

    To track those who attend our events and other activities.

    To ensure we do not send unwanted information to members or other contacts who have informed us they do not wish to be contacted.

Our website does not currently include the use of cookies. We reserve the right to change this in the future to improve the service that our website provides to browsers. We will update our Privacy Policy accordingly if this occurs.

4. Consent and Notices of Changes

If you engage with The Engineering Club through sign-up, attendance at paid-for and free events and, in future, our website, you consent to the collection and use of your personal data under this Privacy Policy. We will allow you to opt-out and, in future, control how we use and share your data.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time so you may wish to check it each time you submit personal information to the Engineering Club. The date of the most recent revisions will appear on this page. If you do not agree to these changes, please do not continue to use the Engineering Club website to submit personal information. You provide data to us when you attend our events, join as a member, register with us or sign up on our website. We log your attendances to events and courses.

We gather information on those who attend our events, usually your name and e-mail address.

    Joining as part of a membership organisation

All organisations who join the Engineering Club are invited to put forward names of those who they think would benefit from knowing about the organisation to which they collectively subscribe.

    Registration

To subscribe to our Newsletter you provide data including your name and email address.

6. Sharing Information

We do not share our data with third parties unless compelled to do so or in a strictly controlled way to certain Service Providers working on our behalf set out below.

    Service Providers

We use others to help us provide our communication with you, including our website and our mailing tools (e.g. for, maintenance, analysis, audit, payments, fraud detection, marketing and development). They will have access to your information as reasonably necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for other purposes. In the case of mailing tools we are also bound by the terms of their privacy policy.

7. Retention and deletion of Data

We keep your personal data for as long as you are a subscriber. We keep a minimum of data even after you unsubscribe. You can delete your personal data by contacting the data controller whose details are below. In future we are committed to providing you with choices about how your data is collected, used and shared which you will be able to manage yourself.

We often publish and link to reports, blogs and articles written by others. We are not responsible for the accuracy of either the content or any personal data contained within such content.

We do not process data outside of the United Kingdom.

We do not share personal data with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

We do not engage in profiling which would result in the recording of personal data.

The information in any e-mail (and/or document attached) sent by or on behalf of the Engineering Club is confidential and may be legally privileged and/or contain copyright material of the Engineering Club. This information is intended solely for the use of the named addressee. If you are not the named addressee of an email from the Engineering Club, please notify the sender immediately and do not disclose, copy or distribute the contents to any other person.

Any contractual representations contained therein on behalf of the Engineering Club must not be taken as final, and are entirely subject to contracts signed formally by an authorised representative of this organisation.

Whilst the Engineering Club takes all reasonable precautions to ensure that e-mails from the Club are virus free, no responsibility will be taken for viruses transmitted from its systems.
