Members and friends note with sadness the passing of Bill Harvey who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in October 2022.

He spoke to the Engineering Club in February of this year about the problems with masonry arch bridges and how his previous analysis had been brought into question by his subsequent obervations. Not since Michel Virlogeux came to London to talk about the Millau viaduct has such a large audience of engineers gathered (this time online) to hear the words of wisdom of someone held in huge regard.

We publish here the Q and A session from this talk. The recording of his talk can be found in the Archive section of the website.
