The Engineering Club is offering a number of educational activities to expand your knowledge and enhance skills for all construction professionals.

For those with some spare time on their hands – especially those on furlough or with reduced hours - we have prepared a ‘mini masters’ course based around a series of teaching modules and a problem solving assignment. Students will be able to select a project and be guided through a process of researching, testing ideas and presenting outcomes, whilst at the same time picking up skills to effectively develop and communicate their work. The course is flexible so that you choose the modules which best suit your project needs and to allow you to work around other activities. Weekly tutorial support is provided.

This course is open to all construction professionals who register to take part. The course will be challenging for all levels, from graduate engineers to senior designers. The aim is to improve their professional skills, general communication skills and their understanding of engineering and broader culture.

It will be challenging, creative and fun but also focused on the serious business of engineering a green recovery.

Activities include:

A series of open guest talks on topics ranging from nuclear power to poetry.

Skills module:
• Writing
• Sketching
• Coding
• 3D modelling
Select some or all of the skills sessions offered.

Design Module: How we Design - What is creativity?

Green Recovery - Keep up with the latest knowledge on:
• Net Zero Carbon
• Embodied energy calculations
• Blue green infrastructure
• Ecology and regenerative design

In addition there are guest 'Masterclasses' some of which will be recorded and be made available as normal Engineering Club talks.

We will provide a certificate of completion at the end of the course.

The course will be delivered on Zoom and students will need to have this free software app downloaded and sufficient bandwidth to communicate through the medium.

The course is initially available for 6 weeks. Each week will be self contained so students can join and leave at any time.
